Content, content, content. There is no shortage of news, views, politics, memes and general distractions to fill our time. This week I’ve grabbed a bunch of stuff that I’ve preferred being distracted by than what is normally scheduled on the black panel in the corner of the living room.
We’re all humans | 30 mins
In a world of competition driven reality TV, “You can’t ask that” is a real dose of reality. Each week, a different a group of marginalised Australians sit down to answer a series of anonymous questions. It sounds like prying into someone else’s business but it is in fact an amazing piece of television that humanises its subjects and manages to make me a bit weepy each week.
Abandoned | 44 mins
Legendary skater Rick McCranck shoots an epic documentary series focusing on abandoned places and the people who still love them. On watching the series, you could be forgiven for thinking that the USA has become a post-apocalyptic wasteland. In some places that is actually the case, fortunately there are people hustling to build something rad from the debris.
Reigns | How long have you got?
Let me preface this with I am not a gamer. I find myself thinking about all the other things that I need to do and I put the controller down. Reigns on the other hand is something I can enjoy because you can pick it up and put it down at will. The goal is to keep your kingdom “Strong and Stable” by satisfying the People, the Church, the Military and the Bank in equal measures before they turn on you, kill you or send you in to exile and your reign ends.
Mashup… Hood Internet Volume 9 | 53 mins
From Snoop Dogg through Taylor Swift, Beyonce through Ratatat, The Mixtape Volume 9 is straight radness.
Wow in the world | 25 mins
Like NPR for kids but if Abby Cadabby were one of the hosts.
It’s podcast for families. Investigating, questioning and explaining the wonders in the world around them. Every episode, hosts Mindy and Guy guide curious kids and their grown-ups away from their screens and on a journey of scientific research and fun. Hosted by Guy Raz @guyraz and Mindy Thomas @AbsolutelyMindy. This is much radness for kids of all ages!
